Confirmed from Vaughters Farm Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Vaughters Farm Trailhead
“Beautiful church at the Monastery and the museum is interesting there.”
“Other than that 10/10 I love to come here and go for a run in the mornings when I visit my mom.”
I love this trail! I like the parking set up with the large bathroom. The crossing light and all the trails you can utilize.
This is a great place to park if you want to ride your bike on the Arabia-Panola mountain Path.
I love this trail especially on a good sunny and hot day. I recommend for runners or anyone wanting to go for walks because the trail IS VERY LONG. My only issue (which is just for me) is the deers, if you choose to run early in the morning you are going to see a lot of deers and that scares me but they never bother…
Bicycled from this trailhead over to A.W.A.R.E. animal rescue to walk Mt Arabia then rode to Alexander Lake in Panola Mountain State Park, about 12 miles one way. The PATH trail is paved and shaded and not too busy during the week. Plenty of parking weekdays.
Trail conditions & character
“Surprisingly big, free parking lot for quick trail access.”
“Concrete trail is wide enough for social distancing and is usually well maintained.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
