Confirmed from Walnut Woods Metro Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic park featuring paved and unpaved wooded trails, plus picnic tables and a playground.
What runners say about Walnut Woods Metro Park
“This is a relatively new park with lots of geometrically planted trees - it’s a bit odd, but beautiful in a planned kind of way.”
“Peaceful, quiet, immaculately maintained trails for hiking and biking.”
I have not been to the dog park in at least a year! Bravo to the big dog expansion area with all the rows of trees!!! Nice and shady and a boy dog's heaven on earth! My Bentley lifted his leg 28 times long after he had run out of "water"?! 😂 My pics today are only of this "new" awesome section!
I've always loved this trail. So does my dog Patches. I don't know when they installed this new bird watching sitting area by Wild Birds Unlimited but I love it! Saw several different birds and it was so relaxing to sit at a picnic table nearby.
Loved this Metro Park! I was astonished by the beauty of the pines and sweet gum trees— absolutely breathtaking! Peaceful, quiet, immaculately maintained trails for hiking and biking. Saw various species of birds and all sorts of butterflies while hiking. Great little getaway!
This review is about the Tall Pines area of Walnut Woods Metro Park specifically the Sweetgum Trail. I've been to this trail atleast 3 times. All in the summertime. I went today after a light snowfall. It's just as beautiful in the winter as it is in the summer. Just a different perspective.
