Confirmed from Walter Sochacki Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

MixedDog-friendly

Dog-friendly, 37-acre green space offering wooded hiking/biking trails, plus shelter & picnic areas.

What runners say about Walter Sochacki Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (166 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“Love to walk my dog here, great connection park to Theodore wirth, or just a great park on its own.”

Quite place to enjoy nature, listen to birds singing and feed mosquitoes. Nice paved and gravel trails.

★★★★★ — Elen , Aug 2023

Love this park. This park is for strolling/walking or biking through, not really a place for a group get together mostly because it is a long strip with trees on either side of a paved trail, with marsh land beyond the trees. But it is lovely, quiet, and lucky me, in my neighborhood.

★★★★★ — Mairead , Sep 2017

Accessible for ALL bodies. About a mile further than the dog park signage…park and play. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES. That is what the dog park is made for-YOU, with the retractable leash! You could bring anyone here- friends on wheels - all can access this parks paved path and wonder. I love it so much!!!

★★★★★ — Ciej’ , Jun 2024

Nice trails and beautiful scenery. A great place to bring all dogs, especially smaller ones who would have trouble hiking in more difficult terrain. There is even a small area where dogs can run without a leash. It's easygoing and a solid distance to get exercise in.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
