Confirmed from Walters Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Spacious park with a playground, sports courts and a pool, plus picnic tables.
What runners say about Walters Park
“Public pool, clean & nice you can bring food/ drink or buy it at the concession stand prices are very reasonable/ fair.”
“There are two swing sets: One for toddlers, and one for kids of all sizes and ages, All Ages!”
Great place to walk or jog: 2x around = 1 mile. Park access roads are inclined - --- 1 short with steep incline --- 1 longer with gradual incline Additional fun and exercise can be had on basketball and tennis courts, as well as the playground.
It's an amazing park. The view from up high on the hill is amazing. Haven't been to the park in years since I lived in Phillipsburg as a kid. Idk if it's still nice but from my memories as a child it was the best park in the town.
Clean, spacious, less crowded, now have swimming pool open recently. There is basketball court, tennis court, football field, nice space to sit and relax, it has nice spring cherry blossoms, restrooms. I go there to shoot some balls or for walk or simply cycling.
Close to my house and it’s a nice walk. It’s kept up well. They always host great events.

“If you walk at dusk or later, wear reflective gear: some areas are better lit than others, and not all lights are on at the same time, nor are they all lit to brightest capacity.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
