Confirmed from Washington Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Green space featuring a playground, a bell tower, a botanical garden & 2 ponds with ducks & geese.

This is one section of a beautiful park with a paved lit sidewalk weaving around flower beds, magnificent old trees, and building with botanical garden and bathrooms. Perfect place to walk without stumbling.
A beautiful place to be immersed in nature right in the middle of Springfield. It is especially gorgeous in the fall. There is a children's playground, a small botanical garden, many walking trails, and plenty of wildlife in the form of ducks and geese.
This park has so much to offer. It has a good playground for the whole family to enjoy. The walkimg/jogging area seems endless. I actually got lost for a moment. But the best part of my existence was the wild life it has. You can fish and my favorite was seeing all the different ducks and geese.
Park is perfect for taking a walk and spending time outdoors. The park has nice paths to walk on.It has nature trail as well. You will find benches all around the park where you can sit and relax. One special thing about Washington park is Carrillon bells.

Plan your run at Washington Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
