Confirmed from Waterfalls Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Waterfalls Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (709 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“Whether you're seeking solitude or a scenic spot for a picnic with loved ones, Newland Waterfall Park delivers with its breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings.”

👟 good for all levels 5 mentions

“It’s an easy walk once you get past the first few waterfalls that have uneven log stairs.”

We stopped on our drive to the Airport to stretch our legs and so glad we did! It was a nice walk/hike down to the falls, with the trail being very doable (gravel) but be careful at the end there are rocks and steep steps to navigate to actually get to the falls area, for those with mobility issues.

★★★★★ — The , Jul 2023

With waterfalls park being just off the road, it's very friendly for families with small children not accustomed to hiking. They have a small parking lot (think 6-8 cars) with a small walking bridge that leads to a few picnic tables or you can walk up the hill for additional waterfall views.

A small oasis amidst the bustling community. Waterfalls are always a powerful source of serenity, regardless of the size. If you're looking for a quick fix, just step out of your vehicle. There is a picnic table next to the parking, or take a short hike up the natural stairway and get another view.

This is a short hike, right off the road with part dirt and part stairs (mountain stairs not finished stairs.) It's an easy trail. Some roots, as to be expected. You don't have to walk all the way up. There are several levels of the waterfall so many great stops to put your feet in the water or let the kids splash.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 36 mentions

“Right off the bat you are great at the parking lot with a beautiful small waterfall and there’s more that immediately follow as you begin your hike.”

“Cute little park, took my 4 year old there after the snow, had some muddy parts but otherwise a great little hideaway from the town.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
