Confirmed from Waterfront Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park-like setting by the Pasquotank River for picnicking and boat-watching featuring a pier and launch area.
What runners say about Waterfront Park
“Clean and neat, with locals fishing the waterfront.”
“Very nice place to go just to relax and think, beautiful view and my grandson loves to run around and play here also a nice place to walk your dog”
Beautiful spot for a walk or for a chill-out. Dock is well maintained and roomy enough. Grounds are manicured well! Area seemed safe and sound.
Mariners' Wharf down the way is a little bigger and has a nicer parking area but don't get me wrong - Waterfront Park is nice. A gazebo, a view of the harbor and the bridge, some grass and yes, you can walk along the waterside. Free parking and benches. It's good!
Pretty cool place to walk your dog. I know it sounds dated but I remember when that place wasn't there or at least the gazebo. Wasn't there. Great place to read a book or just watch the water.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
