Confirmed from Waterworks Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Green space with a scenic hiking trail & access to a river for fishing, canoeing & kayaking.
What runners say about Waterworks Park
“Whole lot of buckthorn though, clean your shoes before you visit other parks.”
“Its a beautiful place for walking by the water or biking on trail.”
“It's quiet, except for nature sounds, especially the Black River, and the trail is never crowded.”
POISON IVY! If you are going to visit and do not know how to identify poison ivy, you'll want to research that. There is quite a lot along the trails. Besides that, the trails are nice for walks, bike riding and may even be smooth enough in most spots for skating.
Great place for a walk or biking. View is amazing but be careful with your children there because some people are not good there, sometimes when me and my family go there which is often we either see buried substances and/or the people who use them.
Really nice park! Perfect for walking, running, and fishing. For fishing, it's really easy to get into nice locations so you don't have to worry about getting snagged in the trees or bushes. I would definitely recommend
Nice place to walk. We start at the ridge road trailhead then walk to the parking lot of Waterworks park. If you walk out onto Huntington St, a bit you can connect back with the trail then walk back to the trail head, and it is 4 miles.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
