Confirmed from Wellston Park1's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 37-acre park offers benches, picnic tables, a 1-mi. walking trail & an off-leash area for dogs.
What runners say about Wellston Park1
“With fenced in areas that contain an obstacle course for training, benches and shade.”
“First time going there my dog loved it.”
The trail is beautiful. You do end up crossing the street so watch out for cars, the trail has blackberries growing next to the path. Good place to walk your dogs. Lots of beautiful ivy.
Large quiet dog park. With fenced in areas that contain an obstacle course for training, benches and shade. My dog had a great time.
A very large enclosed fenced area for dogs. First time going there my dog loved it. There's also a paved path once you get past the rocks in the parking lot. Good for a walk. There is a little seating area in the dogs area. Also there's water dishes and a water spicket available in the open.
My family, my kids and my dogs and myself, we love this park, very beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, wow we can spend hours in this park, we wish can be open 24 hours, because anytime, day or night, is a nice place to walk and relax. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trail conditions & character
“I really like this dog park it really big and they have this poop bag area where if there isn't any people will leave some and they also have some walking trails”
“The off-leash area is quite large with plenty of agility equipment, and the 1-mile trail courses through the wooded section.”
“There's also a paved path once you get past the rocks in the parking lot.”
“The gravel on the trail is still new and not quite settled, so take care walking downhill for now; I imagine this will improve as it weathers over time.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadwater — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
