Confirmed from Western Ridge Trailhead- Moreau Lake State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Nice system of trails. I recommend hiking the West Ridge trail (yellow). It's a well marked trail that will reward you with a nice view west of the Hudson and southern Adirondacks after about 2 miles.

We hiked the Baker and Ridge Run trails to the overlook. It was of moderate difficulty for me. I am 59 with some moderate health issues. I would do it, again, though. We made the mistake of trying to go down the Moreau Overlook trail. It was too steep, and we had to climb back up.

The trails are very well-marked. There is a map at the trailhead at Spier Falls road that shows all the trails. Nicely maintained. Wear your bug spray on the Ridge Run trail!

Great trail! About a mile of moderate "up" to a beautiful mixed forest of Beeches, Oaks, Hemlocks, and some White Pines, among others. Lots of upland waterways, vernal pools and wetlands to explore as you approach the top. The trail is well marked and great views across the Hudson River Valley abound.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
