Confirmed from Westridge Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly park with opportunities for trail walking, owl watching, and hiking.
What runners say about Westridge Park
“Beautiful area for promenades or exercise, unfortunately the trail is concrete which changes the feel of the park a bit.”
“It is quiet, and paths are delineated nicely.”
The West Ridge Open Preserve is part of the Pine Island Ridge, the highest natural elevation in Broward County. This area is 20 feet above sea level. The southern tip of the ridge was a canoe landing for Native Americans over 5,000 years ago and along the ridge there are several archaeological sites.
This is a great place to walk. It is quiet, and paths are delineated nicely. Hills are a nice change from essentially flat South Florida. The owls are interesting scenery. This is a great asset for anybody who lives in Davie, particularly Pine Island Ridge.
Here you can see habitats for burrowing owls. There're some great bike paths and you can walk and observe them from a distance. If you bring your dogs don't let them off the leash these are protected habitats.
Beautiful area for promenades or exercise, unfortunately the trail is concrete which changes the feel of the park a bit. Lots of old beautiful oak trees and palms. No restrooms or playground.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
