Confirmed from Whitman Spring Road Trail -- North Gate's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area with a lakeside trail that's suitable for walking, running, and biking.
What runners say about Whitman Spring Road Trail -- North Gate
“My only beef is that I spotted a dog owner who didn't clean up their pet's waste, so the rules aren't enforced.”
“I really enjoy this walk 2 miles one way very scenic and quiet.”
“This is a great place to go for a run or a walk you do the entire trail and then go back its 4 miles.”
“I really enjoy this walk 2 miles one way very scenic and quiet.”
Fairly level discontinued dirt road with gates to prevent traffic. Views of Lake Auburn throughout make the little over 2 mile section worth the effort. Dog friendly, leashes and pet clean up required. Ticks are common. Lake Auburn is a public water supply so no contact with the water.
Great trail, well-padded down by foot traffic. Gentle incline in places. Great place for a walk, run, or bike right along the lake.
I run here all the time, there are markers every 1/4 of a mile so you can see just how far you've gone, from the first to last hate it's just over 2 miles. This isn't a place I feel necessarily safe though and would definitely recommend bringing a running/walking/cycling buddy with you.
Excellent hiking trails along the lake. Not much parking. No bathroom facilities.nice views of the lake.
Trail conditions & character
“An overall good walking trail with a couple offshoot trails that offer a closer view of Lake Auburn.”
“No safe parking areas (I had to park on the side of the road on a hill).”
“A fav local place to walk…can go from either side if parking is tight at one spot.”
