Confirmed from Wilderness Park Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Wilderness Park Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (121 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful hike but not a lot of markers along the trail so it's easy to lose your way.”

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“Nice easy trails if you don't mind the constant mag dumps at the shooting range”

I liked this hike. You'll find lots of shades. It feels like you are on a maze. There is a type of challenge at the beginning, you have to find 17 posts during the hike. We didn't know about it until we finished. Kids friendly. There is some road constructions on the area, be aware.

Super nice set of trails. Different routes everywhere. Will take some time to try them all. Beautiful scenery everywhere you look.

★★★★★ — Ethan , Jul 2023

Great place to go on a family hike, a trail run or a mountain bike ride.

★★★★★ — Mike , Nov 2023

The Kaysville East Mountain Wilderness Park is one of my favorite places to take my doggo for a quick hike. The trail system is large enough to not feel crowded, even during busy times. There are several campgrounds, an orienteering course, and beautiful views.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“If you take some of the branch off trails you can find some very brautiful views of the city.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
