Confirmed from Wildflower Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Wildflower Trail
“Quiet, well maintained, good elevation change, tons of beautiful flowers and sounds of birds, cuts through equestrian areas.”

I live in the neighborhood and use this trail often. It’s lovely and seems very safe every time I’ve walked it. Sadly, there are people who are leaving 1-star reviews because they don’t want ‘outsiders’ in their neighborhood.
Nice area to go for a walk or hike, depending which trails you take. There's a stretch along the Escondido creek, see my pix/vids. There's always water flowing here, even in August. 2.5-4 miles. Take the horse trails north and south of Fortuna Ranch Road. There are some rugged and steep areas, not stroller friendly.
My favorite trail for daily walks. Quiet, well maintained, good elevation change, tons of beautiful flowers and sounds of birds, cuts through equestrian areas. Park on Fortuna Road and Lone Jack and start on the trail marker “alpaca alley”
I love this trail. It’s the perfect distance for a solid walk, especially if you do the entire loop. The uphill walking sections are rewarded with great views to the west. You can see the ocean from top of Staircase Trail. It’s a great chance to view native chaparral and an unspoiled watershed.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
