Confirmed from Wildwood Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Amazing hike that is a short distance from Portland. If you like a semi short easy hiking experience this trail is it! With breathtaking views and things to learn about the local ecology, this trail is in my top 10 for the Portland area. Come out and learn and experience cleansing for the body and soul!

A stunning hike! We were aiming to see the witch's Castle and it took us to the Wildwood Trail. They have their own parking lot to the right when coming up from the main roads. Although it'll get full fast once it hits noon time and you'll have to find parking on the street.

Quick little hike down to the Witch's Castle. Round trip was 1.5 miles and 240 feet elevation gain. You could keep going if you're wanting to but I chose to just check out the castle. Trail was busy but not too crazy. Parked at Macleay Park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
