Confirmed from Winding Waters Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Beautiful loop trail. 2.5 miles of flat wide trail through old fields and along the winding water. Use caution to not step in or twist ankles on any of the numerous holes! Smaller dirt parking lot, no bathrooms.

Nice trail... a very easy trail, saw a few senior citizens and family's. Not a very long trail, about 2 miles total (+/-) and all flat. Nice scenery but the river has dried up (or dammed), for more than half the trail. Still a nice place for a leisurely hike.

★★★★☆ — David , Oct 2024

Beautiful walk! Lots of birds and animals, bring binoculars and a camera. Completely level, half of the walk is around reclaimed fields half is by the beautiful river. Most of the field walk is shaded but bring a hat on a sunny day.

Very pleasant level hike, quiet with sound of birds, follows river almost half way. U can go on rock slabs at one point. Charming.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
