Confirmed from Windmont Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Windmont Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (511 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 7 mentions

“Nice trails and shelters good place for a little walk well maintained, and a natural prairie filled on the west side to walk-through also.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Always a fun place to go walking, taking absolutely beautiful pictures or simply clear your mind.”

This is simply a great park! I have enjoyed using the park during the past few months to take a nice walk around the lagoon. Of course, there are also many other things to do at this park. There is two playgrounds for the kids, an enclosed shelter and two open shelters.

Great park. I enjoy my walks here and bringing my boys up to play! Love the location.

I really enjoy this little park. In addition to the lake, walking trail, playground, and pavilion, there are lots of squirrels on most days when I pass through. I also really enjoy several dogs that are in a yard next to the drive when they can go out their doggie door on nice days.

Currently undergoing some construction. 2 small playgrounds (one muddy & one good). Nice short walk around the pond. Picnic shelters available (2). Ball field and plenty of parking. Friendly police officer was doing a walkthrough. 👍

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
