Confirmed from Wintergreen Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Wintergreen Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (17 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful hike that can either be 2 hours or longer depending on the trail and how many times you stop to take pictures.”

This hike was amazing, it was a enjoyable bike ride up and down the mountain. I went a little late into the day and go rained on during a storm. It was so beautiful seeing the entirety of Marin in a 360° view. I would do this trail again and would recommend to anyone that wants an easyish ride up and down.

Excellent entry to the Terra Linda Ridge, and is a great group of switchbacks to get up the hill easily. Great place to start a run on the TL ridge loop. The view from the top is incredible, encompassing all of Marinwood and Terra Linda. Also a tree at the top which provides a great lunch spot.

Beautiful hike that can either be 2 hours or longer depending on the trail and how many times you stop to take pictures. It's not a difficult hike although there is one portion that very steep and will burn your quads but totally worth it because at the top is a view of the bay area and the Golden gate bridge

★★★★★ — Herschel , Jan 2018

Open space good for dogs under voice control. It is super green right now (end of January) gorgeous open space. We hiked winter green to connect to Cherry Hill.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
