Confirmed from Wissahickon Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Wissahickon Trails

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (48 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful nature trail accessible by those in the Ambler borough by foot.”

Great organization working to protect open space and our creek. Good hiking and running trails, miles and miles...

★★★★★ — Harm , Sep 2018

The Four Mills Nature Reserve is a secluded, aesthetic gem that will no doubt surprise you with its winding, wooded trails and pedestrian bridges that cross over the Wissahickon Creek. Definitely a nice place for nature photographers in addition to the nature loving outdoorsy crowd.

★★★★★ — Eion , Aug 2014

I volunteered at the Maple Sugar Festival--lots of fun for kids and adults. The WVWA organization is run excellently by dedicated staff and volunteers. I highly recommend it.

★★★★★ — Andrea , Mar 2013

Great space to hike, its family friendly and you will see many people as you hike so it also makes you feel safe.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🌲 Natural surface / singletrack 2 mentions

“Had a lot of rain 2 days ago,so little muddy, wear mud type boots, my wife and i only did the green course to right side, going to vring grandkids next time”

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
