Confirmed from Wonder Lake State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Wonder Lake State Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (145 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Such a beautiful park, went there during peak tick season so by the time we finished the trail we were covered in ticks since we forgot to bring the tick spray.”

🪧 well-marked 5 mentions

“Smaller park, with a little over 1,000 acres, Wonder Lakes offers about 8 miles of very well marked and nice view of Wonder Lake and Laurel Pond.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Quiet, never crowded and a nice place to park are just icing on the cake.”

Make sure to keep a pic of the map on you. The trails are clearly marked and blazed but lots of intersections and shortcuts that could come in handy. The YELLOW (a multi-purpose trail) offers a fairly challenging uphill to the top of the mountain then starts to drop off as you head towards the lake.

The walk in was moderately difficult (my wife has asthma and had to stop halfway to the lake) but worth the effort. The lake is covered with lily pads in midsummer.

Well marked trails and beautiful lake, even on a freezing winter day. Worth a visit!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
