Confirmed from 100 Acre Wood Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve featuring both paved and mountain bike trails, as well as a skate park.
What runners say about 100 Acre Wood Preserve
“The paved path which runs in the middle of the park is very level and well maintained.”
“That said, the place is gorgeous.”
Lots of walking trails. Dogs loved it. Up and down terrain so wear tennis shoes! Many different varieties of mushrooms! Not edible though so don't eat them.
This park is a true hidden gem of Houston. Please note that the map provided on the official website is NOT accurate. I’ve attached a photo of a map provided Greater Houston Off Road Biking Association, which was very accurate and informative. We walked 6 miles along the bike trails.
The trails were awesome, nice hills and big trees. Several splits along the way and pretty serene. It’s not young kids friendly because of the bikers. We ran into some that were very good and announcing but some just riding very fast and we barely had time to dodge. Signs said YIELD to pedestrian not run into them.
Great place to get away from the city noise. Take your water bottle, bug repellent, comfy shoes, dog, kids, bikes and just go enjoy the nature. Bunch of bike trails, paved and not paved. All bikers are really nice and friendly.
Trail conditions & character
“The lake glitters (as long as you squint past the highway), and the trails, both paved and not, are smoother than a heffalumps tail.”
“We saw splendid views of the water ways, abundant water foul and wildlife.”
“Very hilly with lots of cool features to challenge hikers and mountain bikers alike.”
“Almost no bathrooms except at the parking area and at the skate park, both port-a-potties.”
“Now this is what I like is to get lost in the woods, I saw a deer, snake, berries and big flat turtle.”
