Confirmed from 36th Street Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about 36th Street Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (30 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Beautiful views of the city/skyline, multiple trail heads to explore, gentle flowing water, and serine wildlife around.”

Beautiful views of the city/skyline, multiple trail heads to explore, gentle flowing water, and serine wildlife around. It's absolutely gorgeous and fun to trek. (Only negative is small parking lot with limited spaces. The entrance is located on a curved road, so it can be hard to make sure no cars are coming fast)

Be prepared for the elevation gain. Took my terrier to trot up the mountain. It's very beautiful and you get fantastic views of Ogden. Waterfalls, bicycle trails, this is a outdoorsy persons dream right here! Dog friendly, no fees, and plenty of trails to take.

This trailhead links to Gib's Loop and to Waterfall and Strong canyons. There is nice shade and creekside benches to rest on along the way. Wildlife is plentiful, but take care because rattlesnakes are often found near the trail in summer.

Great connection and hike into Strongs Canyon. Much of the trail is covered in water but it has a lot of shade. Continued our hike south on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
