Confirmed from Acadia Mountain's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Acadia Mountain
“If you want a trail that has interesting terrain, great views, and relatively short compared to the other hikes that are more popular, this is the trail for you.”
Acadia Mountain and Man O War Trail is a 2.5 mile loop trail located near Southwest Harbor, Maine that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, nature trips, and horses and is accessible year-round. Pretty heavy accent. 600 plus foot elevation.
Took the family with 5-10 year old kids. They had a blast! Fun and challenging segments. Many parts had skinny stairs or steep angled boulders to climb up/down. Makes the otherwise “short” hike longer, but we had a great time. The view from the top is gorgeous. Bring water.
Great, easy hike. 40 minutes up, with our 4 year old. Probably 2 miles round trip from trailhead off the main road. Great summit views for a short hike.
The crown jewel of the quiet side of Mount Desert Isle. Great views of Somes Sound. Somewhat difficult hike particularly at parts, but a truly great view.
