What runners say about Alder Trail
Sometimes hard to follow, look for paint marks on trees if you lose the path. Connects to the Costanti Lane trail which is much clearer, and from there you can hike up into the beautiful Lookout Mountain forest preserve.
Pleasant area to hike. In the rainy season there’s lots of running water near the bottom. Some parts will be swampy. The Lower section connects to an abandoned road about 1 mile in. From there the footing is better. Not sure how far the trail goes. I spent an hour up and 45 minutes back down. Went 3.3 miles in all.
