Good hiking spot. Lots of history behind this Civil War battlefield commemorated in blacks at good locations along hiking trails. 700 Union soldiers held up in Star Fort at the highest point above the railroad bed. Enjoy it, but keep the history for others to enjoy.
There is so much history and great information on the signs. Flat trail on the old railway path and other trails in the hills. Amazing to see! Small parking lot but safe. The only thing that is missing is a bathroom. I won't complain about a free park!
This is a nice place for the family. It was free so that was a bonus! Our kiddos (5), (8) really enjoy being outdoors and learning about history so this was great for them. They enjoyed the walk and reading the information about the battle.
Great views of Lake Allatoona. You can walk the railroad path that is straight and easy to walk in and out or take the trail that has more historical markers and hills. Lots of fall leaves can make things slippery. Limited parking, no restrooms. State Park but no fees.
