Confirmed from Altadena Valley Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Altadena Valley Park
“Peaceful, open, stroller and leashed dog friendly.”
This park is sweetly tucked back just off the winding and bustling Acton road between the Cahaba and Altadena Lakes. There are expansive rolling hills and flatlands. Lengthy paved trails stream across bridges, plains, and wooded areas. The vastness and openness makes for a solitary and refreshing experience.
This is a fantastic spot for birding, fishing, running and more. Green Herons, Kingbirds, Kestrels, Kingfishers, Hawks, and lots more birds can be found here. a rare Vermilion Flycatcher was also spotted here. Overall great park for recreation.
Peaceful, open, stroller and leashed dog friendly. Access to river away from paved areas. Lots of birds singing. Benches for resting. I went on a weekday and only encountered one person walking his dogs. The paved walkways criss crossed the park.
Really nicely repurposed golf course. They are still doing renovations, but the location is great for walking and there have been some good birds seen here, including a rare for Alabama flycatcher. There currently is limited parking, but once renovations are complete there should be plenty.

- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
