Confirmed from Appalachian Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Popular hiking area featuring access to the Appalachian Trail, plus a tavern.
What runners say about Appalachian Trail
“one of the most scenic stretches of trail along the entire corridor.”
It was a very light trail. There’s a few steep areas but I was able to complete the trail to the Falls with my daughter in flip-flops and crocs with no problem. So don’t get discouraged if you end up near this trail and you only have flip-flops on because you can still have a good time.
I hiked to Fitzgerald Falls, then crossed the road to head south over Cat Rocks, the Eastern Pinnacles to the Hawk Watch platform...then back. Great hike, great trail, great views
Great easy hike to Fitzgerald falls. Very pretty and well maintained trail
Part of the longer Appalachian trail. This is a long the border of Monroe and Greenwood Lake. The highlight of this part of the AT is the Fitzgerald Falls especially after a rain storm.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
