Confirmed from Ashdown Gorge Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“It's easy to forget to enjoy the scenery because you really have to watch your footing the whole way, but it's a beautiful canyon.”

9 miles and 6hrs later—I am damn glad my family decided to do this hike!! 2 adults and 2 kids ages 6&8yo. We started at 9:30am and ended around 3/3:20pm. It was worth it all!

The best river hike I have yet done. Better then the Narrows at Zion! A cool place for a hot day and a rock hound's heaven. Wear water shoes and bring plenty of water if you plan on making it to the waterfall. Please don't forget to give a thumbs up people, this one is a gem!!!!

I can’t believe that I have never heard of this amazing place before! It’s by far my favorite hike! The Gorge goes on and on in a spectacular manner. The views of the narrow canyon walls are majestic! The elevation gain is very small but you are in the river or you are crossing the river the entire time.

Long challenging trail. Upper 4 miles mostly bushwhacking.. but once you drop into the river there's no going back. Always bring plenty of water and snacks. 2 liter pp min. We left one vehicle down stream.. the trail map said 8.1 miles, all of our tracker said more like 10-11 miles.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
