Confirmed from Auerfarm State Park Scenic Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Auerfarm State Park Scenic Reserve
“There is a picnic and scenic area which was a flat area with beautiful views of the rolling hills; there were a few picnic tables and you can even see the Heublein tower from afar.”
An early 20th century 4-h educational 120-acre farm located in Bloomfield, CT. There are two classrooms, kitchen, and an administrative area. Students from Hartford, Granby, Bloomfield, and Simsbury attend the learning center to learn about farming, agriculture science, biology, horticulture, biotechnology, and math.
Great place for a hike or to walk your dog. View at op and map on all trails.
1.17.26 Summers here are great but winters are magical especially after it snows. The road was not plowed so it was a little slippery. The trails were fun to explore. There was a family sledding. The alpacas and goats were excited to get a visitor. The sunset was gorgeous over the winter wonderland.
I love going here. There are a variety of hiking options / trails. Even the hardest trail is fairly easy. The one that leads to the highest point, across from the parking area near the entrance, has great views, seating areas, and picnic tables.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
