Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Need to see if you like outside trail goes for miles by a stream beautiful”

The B-Y Access - Westmoreland Heritage Trail was perfect for an 18-mile bicycle ride! Trees and flowers are beginning to bloom! The cherry trees at the end of the trail in Export are in full bloom and attracting honey bees! The trail itself is dry and well maintained. It’s always scenic!

Trail is easy, wide and well cared for. If you happen to go down the one by the ice cream shop it kinda goes through the woods. Definitely passable leads to a road. Across the street a much longer trail with bridges and river access. Not too much sun and just a great day out.

★★★★★ — Amy , May 2025

Well maintained secluded rail trail along Turtle Creek with an ice cream store at one end. About 18 miles round trip.

★★★★★ — Donald , Aug 2019

Parking is limited but this section of the Heritage trail is one of my favorites. It gets busy on the weekends already early in the morning. The stretch between B-Y park and Saunders Station is very pretty and there is a nest of a Bald eagle that can sometimes be spotted flying around the area.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
