Confirmed from Westmoreland Heritage Trail, Turtle Creek's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Now this is what I call a heritage trail! Walked the two mile between the Turtle creek entrance and the B-Y park entrance. For a December morning the trail was busy with runners, bikers and people walking their dogs. There was much parking at both ends and I saw public port-a potty at the Turtle creek side.

This trail is well kept and offers beautiful scenery! This day we saw a huge snapping turtle and a blue heron. Deer are a common site crossing the trail. Everyone has always been respectful on the trail. Cyclists tend to go fast. There are walkers and runners of all ages.

Love this trail! 95% waterside and view. Flat. Opens into the Duff Park in Murrysvile. The terminus has a tool station, water station, rest room and a booth with ample parking. The Saunders Station entrance also has the tool/pump and Porto Pottie. Bring your pole and fish Trafford has an Ice Cream business.

★★★★★ — Bob , Jun 2019

Trailhead parking in Monroeville is a little limited, which means that the sides of the road can quickly get filled up, especially on a nice weekend day. But if you come out in the early morning, you can get a nice walk in, and see the sun come up.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
