Confirmed from Ballenger Creek Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public green space featuring athletic fields, lots of play equipment & picnic areas with grills.

Ballenger Creek Park is one of the best outdoor spaces in Frederick and easily deserves five stars. It’s a large, well-maintained park with something for everyone, whether you’re visiting with kids, walking your dog, or just looking to spend some peaceful time outside.
Great park - spacious fields, well maintained. The park has a lot of bathrooms and water fountains throughout. 3 separate spaces for dogs, community garden. About 1 mi loop for walking/running.
Has a toddler playground and a rubberized mulch that is mostly all together. Then there is a larger playground for older childern and looks to be set up so it is wide enough for wheel chair access. It has instruments like chimes, a drum, and xylophone.

“The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is due to having only pit toilets or porta-potties, and the pit toilets did not have any hand sanitizer and they weren't the cleanest.”
“There are also a wide range of walking trails and plenty of parking onsite.”
“The park has a lot of bathrooms and water fountains throughout.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
