Confirmed from Barnes Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public green space with amenities such as tennis courts, an amphitheater & areas for free-play.
What runners say about Barnes Park
“Th rides are nice and clean and well maintained.”
“Its big and beautiful with tennis court, also at night it has beautiful lights since its on a hill, romantic.”
I really like this park. They have a nice walking path and lighted up at night. I feel safe walking there. There's also a playground, an amphitheater, baseball, tennis courts and it's right next to the pool. There's a big grass area on the hill and lots of picnic tables. There is plenty of parking surrounding the park.
I love walking here in the morning. My dog loves this spot as well. Lots of space to exercise or just sit and have a picnic.
Been to this park a couple times and still discovering it. -We've taken classes here from Monterey Park Parks and Rec for the kids -We've been to party at the benches near the playground. -Lovely playground for littles and bigger kiddos as well. Not completely shaded. Rubber soft padding. Swings and slides.
It is a very active park. Lots of sport activities going on. People walking, excersing children on the playground. Seniors dancing. It's very beautiful, love the atmosphere.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
