We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Barton Arboretum yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Barton Arboretum
This place is massive! You can get lost in the trails, the museums are too die for. So much history. Check out the photo... If that's not a sign from God, I don't know what is. If you know the statue, you know.
Wonderful learning resource for those who wish to place tree names to trees and leaves that they encounter while walking or hiking in the area. Traveling from the woods of the Northeast, it was wonderful to use the knowledge gained here during my visit.
There is a place where you can take your food and have a picnic there for 6-8 people at the end of the trail. At there you could have a nice view of a small lake.
We love taking our pups for training and walks our here. There are so many things to look at and explore!

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
