Confirmed from Gus Kinchen Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Gus Kinchen Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (9 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

This is a quick walking/bike path starting on Country Club Drive and ending at College. One thing I adore about strolling down this path are all the gnomes hidden throughout! Sometimes the gnomes have moved locations. I’ve seen a dad walking with his kids counting the gnomes. So cute! I wish the path was longer.

First time I've ever seen this referred to as the "Gus Kinchen Trail." Lived near there in the 1960s, and it was always "The Donkey Trail" to us. The Crawfords lived right next to the end of the trail on Country Club, and they had a pet donkey for their grandkids.

I love that this exists. I love that there are little libraries dotting the trail. I love that there is a (though unmaintained) plant swap location. The trees are awesome, the birds love it, and it's a nice addition to my run.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
