We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Baxter Preserve- The Racetrack yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve offering open fields, meadows, and ponds for family-friendly hikes.
What runners say about Baxter Preserve- The Racetrack
“Good place to bring dogs (must be leashed as there are occasionally horse riders around), just please clean up after them!”
“Beautiful place for a walk, glad we could visit (I just wish dogs could be off leash when there are no horses around)”
“Beautiful place to take a nice peaceful walk or take your horse for a ride.”
We have been here many times with our dog. Beautiful place to take a nice peaceful walk or take your horse for a ride. There's a nice pond on the property also.
Such a special spot to hike with your dog and family. Open fields, expanses of green and meadows and ponds, all set behind the homes of multimillionaires. It feels like a never-ending sprawl of beauty, where any time of day, any season, is sensational. The best hike in Westchester. 5 stars!!!!
Great area to walk and take in some farm like nature. Many fields to walk through or take ride you best horse. Dogs are allowed as long as on a leash.
I almost didn't want to post about this place because it's such a hidden gem, but it's the best place to walk your dog within 30 miles.
