Confirmed from Bell Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hikers & riders frequent this natural area with trails that wind through striking desert scenery.
What runners say about Bell Trail
“This trail has great views of the Wilderness Area, particularly the nearby mesas and the creek.”
“It's one of those trails, that is long, with no shade and nothing much to see along the way.”
I would rate this as a hard trail, especially in high temperatures. Last 2 miles are climbing on the rocks and can be quite challenging for some. At the end of the trail, follow the left which will take you to a beautiful pond worth seeing. At the beginning of September was nice and warm enough to jump in or swim.
Seven mile out and back where the first three miles is a relatively gradual climb with minimal large obstructions. The last half mile has steeper climbs with rocks to get over. Once you get to the end of the trail there is a nice rock ledge to jump into a deep cool pool.
3/4 of the way to the crack is easy, it’s the last 1/4 that is pretty challenging. If you are afraid of heights probably want to reconsider- some of it you are on a very narrow rocky trail with a straight drop down. Recommend wearing good hiking shoes, not sandals, even strapped sandals.
Absolutely gorgeous trail! It starts off very easy and then there’s a bit of a moderate climb once you get to the rocks. It’s so beautiful. We saw a herd of Javelinas and a mother and baby deer.
Trail conditions & character
“But good parking, trail, views, and swimming hole, as well as other trails branching off and a few different creak access points.”
