We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Belt Woods Natural Environment Area yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

DNR has good information on this public land if one searches for "DNR Belt Woods." There are also lots of other websites with information. Right now, accessing the old growth woods is challenging and of debatable legality. I did as William Hoker did and accessed from the Church Road City of Bowie Park.
Accessed from the football field across Church road. I wandered about 2 miles clockwise pretty solid wood no trails. Ran into boundary markers on perimeter of votech school, signs and yellow rings on trees. Worth a return.
I led my outdoor club on a hike there 35 years ago. It may have been against the rules then too but I don't remember. I think Nick Finio is more observant than I am, because I couldn't tell the difference from other forests and the rest of my group knew less than I did.
