Confirmed from Big Dalton Canyon Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Shaded, family-friendly hiking area along a creek in the San Gabriel Mountains.
What runners say about Big Dalton Canyon Trail
“The Big Dalton its my first time visiting with my doggies, it was very easy and clean to see the path, along the river.”
“Big Dalton wilderness has beautiful green trails.”
“I hiked with my dog and found well‑maintained restrooms, fire pits, and shady groves.”
“The scenery is simple but peaceful, and it’s a good option if you just want to get outside without pushing too hard.”
“The other trails were the Big Dalton Trail, which is an easy walk and leads you to a picnic area with restrooms also, there's a creek along that hike.”
We came here on a weekend and it wasn't too crowded. You have to enter a gate and parking is just on the side of the road. There are various hiking trails you can choose from. We took the easy one since we had a 70 year old grandma and a 3 year old toddler. Both made it OK.
It's pretty much flat, a nice little walk along a water stream that's relaxing. There's a lot of flying bugs too 😬 if big Dalton is too easy there's two more trails a little more moderate that you can do. The area is pretty clean please keep it that way.
Oasis gem in the San Gabriel mountains. It’s family friendly, mostly shaded. I love it.
I love this moderate-difficult trail in Glendora. It can be walked up and down in an 1 - 1.5 hrs. Part of a network of trails in this canyon area.
