Confirmed from Big Dalton Wilderness Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Big Dalton Wilderness Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (5 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Great spot. Choice of trails from this spot. Can get a workout on Mystic trail or chill on BDC trail. Shaded most of the trail. With water flow & wildlife. Got surprised by some young deer smashing out of the bush to get a drink from the creek. Then disappearing back in the bush. Recommend for families or for excersie.

Nice areas. Many trails off of Big Dalton Canyon Rd. Water in creek is rushing by. so be careful. Wildlife too...bears, mtn lions, coyotes and snakes. didnt see any this day though.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
