What runners say about Black Diamond Natural Area
Fantastic trails and lots for everyone. this place is a nice patch of the forest amidst encroaching development. It is home to tons of native plants and animals. But be warned, there are so many out of control, off leash dogs. Be careful, and please keep your dog on a leash.
Great place to take kids and dogs for a nature hike. Miles of trails and all are marked so you don't get lost. There is a river that runs through the preserve so there are great places to sit and have a picnic. Lots of area to explore. We are there at least 3 times a week rain or shine.
I hiked about 6 miles on Friday midday. Not a lot of others out, so great solitude. Not much elevation, mostly small trails in good shape. A few broader road-type trails. Seems to be mostly designed for bikes, lots of banked curves, and one way trails.
This is an excellent area to run, bike, hike, and explore. There are mixed conifer/deciduous forest, wetlands, ponds, and an open view point at the powerlines. There are several stations with maps. There are a few entrances and a large parking area for 40+ cars. There are also restroom facilities.
