Black River Riparian Forest and Wetland

This is a small protected area with a dirt trail that runs along the shore of the Black River. An excellent place to bird! I saw upwards of 15 heron, 10 different species of waterfowl, and several passerines. It is a peaceful place that provides an excellent sanctuary from the busy city streets and highway.

Peaceful, picturesque, quiet area with a wide paved trail that stretches around a protected forest and wetland. If you're waiting for your kid during soccer practice at Starfire, you can easily saunter along this trail. Walk east along the Green River trail a bit and you run into the Black River trail.

This is a really nice park, among those that are attempts and letting the land reclaim itself. It's to some extent just left alone, and left to do whatever it's going to do. Very little human intervention by way of watering or mowing or any sort of planting or tending. That's its draw.

Great place to walk. Trail is mostly level (no steep inclines or declines. You'll see plenty of various birds and a number of rabbits are likely to pass by you. If you're lucky, you nay even see a deer or 2. Good place for walks with kids (if interested in nature). There a few benches for resting.
