Confirmed from Blackridge Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Popular trailhead with a map and bike repair station for hiking and mountain biking.
What runners say about Blackridge Trailhead
“The views were stunning and the air was so crisp and clean.”
This was such a fun Trail to run on this morning! Conditions were dry, and the spring flowers are still in full bloom
This is a great moderate hike with gorgeous views. Good balance of length and difficulty that will definitely make you sweat or have sore legs the next day, but not so difficult that you cannot bring family members. It takes about 1.5 hrs to do the main loop starting/ending at the lake.
Trailhead can get busy when the reservoir is open and crowded. This is the best place to access the Blackridge, Sidewinder, BST, and Eric's trails. Herriman is doing a good job of adding trails and every time I go riding/hiking the trails are better. Still rocky, but getting more groomed over time.
We did a winter hike with friends and kids and it was fun. The views were stunning and the air was so crisp and clean. It's a winter gem!
Trail conditions & character
“The view of the valley just gets better and better as you climb.”
“We parked at the western edge of the reservoir, where the trailhead is visible.”
“For beginners, there is plenty of easy technical obstacle's to learn from.”
“We did the Blackridge/Sidewinder/Diamondback loop which was a nice hour+ long 3.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
