Confirmed from Juniper Crest Trailhead.'s own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Area for hiking and mountain biking featuring a reservoir.
What runners say about Juniper Crest Trailhead.
“Fairly easy hike that is enjoyable with great views of the valley.”
Love this spot, I just moved here from Texas and live right around the corner, going every evening and wandering around for an hour or two is the perfect way to get in some cardio! Many options/different paths to take, whether you're walking, hiking, jogging, or biking.
Eric apparently looooved this place, owned this place or is smiling down on us from above, because this is his trail. "Rocky" was the name of a low budget film that transformed Silvester Stallone's career due to sheer grit and determination, but is also an apropro term to describe this desert sidewinder.
It's a dry and rocky but very accessible. There are a couple of easier trails around the trailhead including one that is paved. Eric's trail has a couple of options at the beginning. Both have switchbacks. The one to the west side of the hill is steeper and shorter. The one on the east side is more gradual and longer.
Fun bike trail. Flow trail too. Some rock garden spots. Not a lot of climbing. Lots of construction on the lower part.
Trail conditions & character
“Parking is a little challenging since either you park in the church lot (technically they dont want you to do that) or on the side of the road.”
“Would recommend trail runner type shoes or hiking boots for going up the steep parts, it can get a little dusty/slippery in regular sneakers”
“So, if you're looking for a place to work up a sweat and explore some beautiful scenery, this is definitely worth checking out.”
“It's a dry and rocky but very accessible.”
“We've been a few times in the last month and the drinking fountain doesnt seem to be working though.”
