Confirmed from Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Historical museum featuring a mansion plus picnic areas, carriage rides & other activities.
What runners say about Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park
“It's a beautiful rebuilt plantation manor and it's even furnished with some of the original homeowners belongings.”
Beautiful island to visit. You'll want to get there early to have time to see everything at a good pace. I recommend doing the wagon ride first so you can have an introduction to the sites to see along the road, then you can walk the road at your own pace and read the signs.
To start off, this island is beautiful! It's well kept and there are some beautiful, massive Sycamore Trees out here. The ferry ride to get here is fun, and I think $10 is pretty darn reasonable. The history here is awesome! There are many signs and a few volunteers that'll tell you some of the history.
I very much loved touring Blennerhassett Island! The ferry ride was relaxing and had fun facts - there is an upper and lower deck as well as a ramp to get on the boat. It was incredibly hot the day I went but the boat crew boys worked their tail off.
If you are looking for the Almost Heaven swing, you have to take a boat to the island. Google Maps will take you here, which is the museum and gift shop. You will get your boat ticket at the gift shop and you have the option to buy a museum ticket, the mansion tour and the wagon ride.
