Confirmed from Blockhouse Point Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Blockhouse Point Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (19 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Stop by the Lumber Barn and pick up some beautiful local wood for your next project.”

nice trailhead parking lot that can hold at least 10 cars. it might be crowded when weather is good and on weekends. There're multiple trails near the trailhead. With 2 trails connected to C&O canal towpath, you can walk/run/ride any length of your choice. Looks like a good place to go for any season.

★★★★★ — David , Feb 2024

Lovely park. A few miles of trails to hike, run, jog, bike and even engage in some equestrian activities. Parking lot fits about 20 cars. Free of entry. The trails aren't difficult at all although there are a few parts that run steep. The views of the field and the river are nice to stop and look at.

★★★★★ — Trey , May 2025

Beautiful short hike to overlook of the canal and river. You can stretch out a hike if you want through interlacing trails.

★★★★★ — Lee , Oct 2025

If they bathrooms, just before heading in, it would be perfect. Yet, Excellent site to hike, for all levels.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
