Confirmed from Blue Wall Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Blue Wall Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (87 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“Not difficult and very enjoyable with beautiful scenery and safe trails.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“Not too short, not too long - and very peaceful.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“It's an easy trail, nice view of hogback mountain over a pond.”

GPS will take you to a gate with a small parking area on the left. There is room for about 10 cars, but parking along the road is also an option. We had no issues with parking midday on a beautiful Saturday. The parking area has 24 hour surveillance signs but no restrooms or garbage cans. There is no entrance fee.

This is such a beautiful and peaceful place. The “hike” is more like a walking trail, which is super nice when having good conversation with a friend. Take a moment to sit and rest at the rippling waterside overlooking the mountain. I’ll be going back soon!

Great place to walk with friends, family, and pets! The parking area can get fairly crowded on weekends, so make sure to come early. The views are beautiful and worth the walk! I don’t recommend coming alone as the trail takes you far from the main road.

This place has so much to see as you hike throughout it. I hiked the twin ponds, and they both were breathtaking. You also see the waterfall at Lannys cascade along the way. Plus the hidden waterfall near the first pond if you travel back behind it. It was worth the hike to experience it all.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 31 mentions

“The waterfall loop trail out and back took about an hour and 10 minutes (that's with stopping to take pictures and video).”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
