Confirmed from Bluebell Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Bluebell Trail
“The Bluebell Trail Loop at Bull Run Park is an easy and scenic walk, offering a well-maintained natural trail path with refreshing forest views and seasonal wildflowers.”
Unfortunately I wasn't here when the Bluebells were in peak, but it was still a good hike with pretty scenery. The trails are wide enough for hiking but can get a little muddy in places. There are wooden platforms over the swampiest areas.
Absolutely beautiful walk! We went on a weekday, not crowded at all, hadn’t rained so wasn’t muddy one bit. Definitely will come back next year 💙
A pretty trail and super muddy after an April rain. Sneakers and boots were coated in mud on their bottom 1/3 with pants ends also splattered. Many people joined the trail as noon approached and had to step aside multiple times to allow passage.
Only negative is a shooting range is nearby with constant firing. Takes away from the tranquility of the park. Otherwise, a lovely walking trail.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
