Confirmed from Bluffwoods Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park, campground and hiking area with trees and picnic tables amid rocky bluffs.
What runners say about Bluffwoods Conservation Area
“Gravel roads around this area are well maintained and should be accessible to all but the least-capable vehicles, unless wet weather is involved.”
“Beautiful, peaceful and overall great place to catch a quick hike.”
“There were several (5-8) primitive rock fire rings and lots of well spaced trees for shade and hammocking!”
“Had a wonderfully peaceful and quiet Memorial Day Weekend camping at Bluffwoods CA!”
We had a great time surrounded by nature!! Not for the novice hiker. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, the trail is not always cleared & watch your steps. There are markers on the trail to let you know you're on the right path. Trail A was marked with a RED blaze.
This is a hidden treasure...either folks don't know about it or they've moved on to other hiking locations. It's a perfect hike for folks with difficulty handling terrain as the elevation is there, but slight and it is all paved. Beautiful, peaceful and overall great place to catch a quick hike.
When we lived in MO we frequently camped at this conservation area. We would often go around Memorial Day and it was quiet. Our dogs really enjoyed running around the open fields. There is a lot of shade and they keep the tall grass mowed in the summer. 10/10 recommend. Leave no trace.
Wonderful nature area. Hiking trails are well built. Trees laid across the trails at a few points, but we were still able to negotiate our way with 2 young kids. Gravel roads around this area are well maintained and should be accessible to all but the least-capable vehicles, unless wet weather is involved.

“That first hill is a nice long hill that'll get your heart pumping, then the rest of it is just a nice hike in the woods.”
“A privy, that has seen better days, is your only option for a bathroom.”
Plan your run at Bluffwoods Conservation Area
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
