Confirmed from Boccardo Loop Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Open to hikers, bikers & equestrians, the 2.7-mile stretch passes though grasslands & oak woodlands.
What runners say about Boccardo Loop Trail
“It has great view of town and lake on the way from west to east direction road.”
Parking is limited but free. You cannot park on the road. No restrooms. Three trails. The 1 mile take about 30 minutes, possible with a stroller. The 2.5 miles is not possible in stroller, the third option is around 10 miles.
Great views and a challenging trail. If you go up the western side, it's a bit steeper but half a mile shorter. There's not much shade either way. Nice wildflowers including Golden Poppies, Bi-Color Lupine and Itherial Spears. Wind is almost always blowing.
Edit(9/5): Did my first 5 Mile trail run and it was definitely challenging with the heat. 🥵🥵🥵 Started at 8 am, should have started at 6. 😑 Overall, just the right elevation you need to start off your trail running journey. Best to enjoy during sunrise or sunset. It can get trafficky anytime post 9:00 AM.
Hike with some of the best views of the bay. Several options for hiking - from 1 mile to very long ones with lots of elevation gain. We did a 4.4 mile loop with about 1,100' total elevation gain, a bit under 2 hrs. Saw an eagle snatching a mouse right in front of us.
Trail conditions & character

“Just a bit of challenging to drive up and they didn’t have much parking.”
“A great loop hiking trail with incredible views of the south bay area and foothills.”
